Editorial standards

Every page on this site is written to the same set of editorial rules. Here they are.

Independence

PolicyholderAid does not accept payment from insurance carriers, public adjusters outside our affiliated firm, or attorneys for editorial coverage. We do not run sponsored content. We do not publish guest posts. Our affiliated California PA firm receives intake from the free-review pathway, which is the only commercial relationship the editorial site has.

Sourcing

Every factual claim links to a primary source. We cite:

  • California Department of Insurance bulletins and regulations
  • Reported court decisions (with the case caption, court, and date)
  • News reporting from California outlets (LA Times, KCRW, KQED, the Sacramento Bee, CBS LA)
  • Industry data (Verisk, Insurance Information Institute, Department of Finance)

If we can't source something, we don't publish it. If a number is contested or estimated, we say so.

Expert review

Articles touching California public-adjuster practice are reviewed by a licensed California public adjuster before publication. Articles touching bad-faith law are reviewed by a California-licensed attorney. Reviewers' names and credentials appear on the byline.

Updates and corrections

Every guide shows a "Last updated" date in the byline. We update when:

  • A statute, regulation, or court decision changes the answer
  • We discover an error
  • A reader provides authoritative new information

Corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page with the date and a brief description of what changed. Substantive errors get a public correction; typos get a silent fix. Email us if you find something to correct.

What we don't do

  • We don't promise outcomes.
  • We don't publish AI-generated content without expert review.
  • We don't comparatively name other public adjusters or law firms.
  • We don't accept testimonials we can't verify.
